Saver

I live with a saver. He loves to save things. In going through our file cabinet in the "owners manuals" we have accumulated over the years, we have manuals for things we don't own anymore, like the high chair (who needs a manual for that in the first place...place child in, belt, feed, seems pretty basic). BUT, to his credit, there are some interesting things I have found. The receipt for the tux rental from our wedding 15 years ago..with tax, 127.87. I even found our vows written in scribble..kinda cool. One receipt for "gent's wedding ring", $200 less $30 (I love a discount!). I'm not so fond of all the "stuff" he saves, but it does bring some fond memories when you find some gems.

Mom

Well, I have been silent on the blogger for awhile as I have been busy attending to daughter/nurse duties. My Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of this year and she passed away on Oct 9th after a very brave battle. She had decided very early on that she would not attempt chemo as it does not cure lung cancer, just buys you time. As it was, her last month was very painful and it was very hard to watch her suffer. She was able to stay at home through the wonderful Palliative Home Care program and she passed away peacefully in her own home. We are all comforted by the fact that we know we will see her again in heaven one day. I have never experienced "close" grief before. Tears come easily but I am so happy that her worn out body is finally at rest. I feel sadder when I think of the grief my Dad is going through, he lost his spouse of 53 years...there will be tough days.
I know she would want us to continue on with life, I can hear her say "you can't just sit around and cry", so, we are getting back to our normal routine. I love you Mom...thanks for all the good memories!
